Mhlosinga Nature Reserve comprises 1 850 hectares of Northern Natal bushveld and riverine thickets.
At the heart of Mhlosinga lies the 10 million cubic meter Van Eck Dam (RAMSAR Site #123), providing a rich variety of bushveld and wetland bird life.
Our bird list for the district currently stands at 330 species.
The 100 hectare Van Eck Dam is a productive water supply for Africa's magnificent tiger fish.
The dam provides excellent year-round angling for tiger, tilapia and catfish.
Bag limits are controlled to ensure sustainability and
'catch and release' is encouraged.
Come and soak up the wilds in a safe, relaxed environment.
Visitors are free to drive, walk or cycle on any of the designated roads and tracks of the reserve.
A network of bush roads and single tracks for mountain biking, walking and trail running has been created. The network is being expanded year by year taking the visitor through Mhlosinga's most diverse and scenic habitats..
